The government is sitting on UFO files Americans have a right to see.
President Trump ordered those files released. Career bureaucrats decided otherwise.
And now Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) is blowing the lid off what happened inside a secret two-hour Pentagon meeting — and the picture isn’t pretty.
What Burchett Walked Out of the Pentagon Knowing
Burchett disclosed new details about his high-level push for UFO transparency, arguing that unelected bureaucrats are defying public calls for full disclosure, and warned that Washington’s culture of secrecy undermines public trust.
“I had a meeting at the Pentagon this week on the issue, a very high-level [meeting]. I’m not at liberty to say who was there and what was, but I was there over two hours if that tells you anything,” Burchett said.
Two hours. High-level. Can’t say who was there. That’s not a routine briefing. That’s a congressman being walked through something serious enough to keep classified — and coming out the other side still convinced the public is being lied to.
“And the disclosure is real. And the problem we’re having right now is the deep state is blocking a lot of this,” he added.
Burchett, who has previously spoken about reviewing classified photos and videos, blamed unelected defense officials for stonewalling congressional oversight. He noted that staffers have claimed executive leadership is kept in the dark.
That detail alone should stop people cold. The President of the United States — the commander in chief, the man who signs the orders — is apparently being told by mid-level bureaucrats that he doesn’t have clearance for certain information. Burchett put it in plain terms.
“I’m in a security hearing, and a little punk with a man bun tells me that the president’s on a need-to-know basis. Now, what world am I living in?” Burchett said. “You got power, you got control, you’ve got arrogance. And really those are the things that run Washington, DC.”
That’s not bureaucratic dysfunction. That’s a permanent government class that has decided it answers to nobody — not elected members of Congress, not the President, and certainly not the taxpayers who fund every black-budget program these people are hiding.
Pilots Who Saw Something — and Paid for It
Burchett told Tyrus on the *Planet Tyrus* podcast that he had spoken to pilots and service members who witnessed unidentified objects but intentionally destroyed footage to avoid professional retaliation.
He added that those who reported such encounters underwent an eight-hour debriefing that became part of their personnel record. “They had psych evaluations because of it. And they would, they could get pulled from the flight line,” he said.
Think about what that means for a career military pilot. You see something in the sky that defies everything you’ve been trained to understand. You report it. And the reward for telling the truth is a psychiatric evaluation, a permanent mark in your file, and the very real possibility of losing your flight status. The system doesn’t want the truth to get out — it wants the people who saw the truth to shut up and disappear.
“And that’s just wrong, man. That’s a stigmatizing of anybody. And also it’s a cover-up of what the heck’s going on. And government does not have the right to decide what I can and cannot handle.”
That last line is worth sitting with. The government does not have the right to decide what the American people can handle. That’s the whole argument, right there.
Burchett describes the pushback he has received for asking questions and reveals what pilots, whistleblowers, and government officials have shared with him behind closed doors. He also discusses alleged UFO technology, zero-point energy, Skinwalker Ranch, and why powerful industries could have an interest in keeping advanced technology hidden.
The energy angle is worth noting. If the technology observed in UAP footage operates on principles outside conventional propulsion — no heat signatures, no fuel, physics-defying maneuvers — then the industries built on oil, gas, and conventional aerospace have a financial motive to keep that buried. That’s not a fringe theory. That’s how power works.
Trump Ordered the Release. The Bureaucracy Is Slow-Walking It.
Trump posted on Truth Social: “Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters.”
The Department of War published its first batch of declassified records related to unidentified anomalous phenomena on May 8, 2026, launching a public archive that the Trump administration says will be updated with new tranches every few weeks. The initiative, branded the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE), is being run with support from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
But Burchett isn’t satisfied — and he’s been around long enough to know a managed release when he sees one.
“The stuff they’re dropping right now is just Deep State classic,” said Burchett. “They won’t show us some of the stuff that we’ve seen. They’re going to show stuff that is easily identifiable.”
“The 1st drop will be big but in comparison to what is coming they will be a drop in the bucket,” Burchett said after the initial release. He’s been saying that for months, and the pattern bears him out. Every release is framed as historic transparency. Every release is followed by credible people pointing out what’s still missing.
“The Pentagon and Washington bureaucrats have kept this information hidden for decades, and we’re finally going to shed some light on it,” Burchett said previously. “We’re bringing in credible witnesses who can provide public testimony because the American people deserve the truth. We’re done with the cover-ups.”
He said that years ago. The cover-ups, by his own account, are still ongoing. What’s changed is that a president who actually wants disclosure is in office — and the permanent bureaucracy is running the clock.
This is the same dynamic that played out with the Kennedy assassination files, with FISA abuse, with the Hunter Biden laptop. The institutions that are supposed to serve the public instead treat inconvenient information as their personal property. They release what they want, redact what they want, and wait out whoever is pushing for accountability.
Burchett argues that if Americans are paying for government programs, they deserve a receipt. That’s not a radical position. That’s the basic premise of representative government. The people fund these programs. The people have a right to know what those programs produced.
And yet here’s a sitting congressman walking out of a two-hour classified Pentagon meeting, unable to say who he met with or what he saw, telling the public that unelected staffers are gatekeeping information from the President himself. The deep state isn’t a theory in this story. It’s the named actor refusing to comply with a direct presidential order.
If Trump’s PURSUE program continues to produce carefully curated, easily explainable files while the genuinely anomalous footage stays locked in compartmentalized programs nobody elected, then the disclosure effort will have been a performance — not a reckoning. Burchett knows it. And the fact that he’s saying it out loud, after sitting in that room for two hours, suggests the resistance is more organized than the administration has publicly acknowledged.
