White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is one of President Trump’s closest aides.
But Leavitt faced a massive decision.
And Karoline Leavitt made a life-changing decision that left Trump with one response.
Leavitt Steps Down as White House Press Secretary
Leavitt earned high marks from Trump and his supporters as press secretary for her willingness to call out the liberal media to its face for anti-Trump bias and fake news hoaxes.
In addition, Leavitt also revolutionized the White House press briefings by creating the news media seat where independent journalists, podcasters, and livestreamers could attend the briefings and ask questions on behalf of audiences who don’t get their news from legacy media.
Leavitt served as a welcome breath of fresh air following Karine Jean-Pierre and Jen Psaki’s tenure as press secretary, where they essentially served as the public gatekeepers to hide Joe Biden’s cognitive decline from Americans.
But Leavitt’s 18-month run is over as President Trump announced on Truth Social that Leavitt is stepping down from her post to spend time with her family following the birth of her newborn.
“Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect! Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections,” Trump wrote.
Trump thanked Leavitt for her time working as his top press aide.
“Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom, since 2018, including our Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024. Karoline has been one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office. Thank you, Karoline, for a job well done!” Trump added.
Leavitt Promises to Stay in the Fight
Leavitt followed up Trump’s announcement of her departure by adding that while she is leaving the White House, she isn’t leaving the fight as Trump asked, and she agreed, to remain an outside advisor as Trump and the GOP battle socialist Democrats for control of Congress this fall.
“Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” Leavitt posted on X.
Leavitt went on to say that, “The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary — and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”
“Our country is facing an existential threat from an increasingly extremist Democrat Party that seeks to destroy everything great about America, and I believe it is incumbent upon all of us who care about this country to fight back against that threat. My fight is entering a new phase, but it is far from over,” Leavitt concluded.
President Trump didn’t announce a replacement.
And all eyes will turn to see who Trump picks to serve as his representative in the briefing room to spar with the fake news media.
