Trump-deranged comic Jimmy Kimmel can’t help himself.
Kimmel picked yet another fight with President Trump.
And now Jimmy Kimmel delivered one ultimatum that was completely unhinged.
CBS announced last year that it was canceling The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Puck and the New York Times reported that CBS lost $40-50 million a year on the show, as Colbert turned the program into late-night therapy sessions for anti-Trump liberals, running off the audience and sponsors.
Despite television being a business, leftists refused to accept that the dollars no longer made sense and latched onto a conspiracy theory that pro-Trump billionaire David Ellsion taking over CBS after his company Sky Dance proposed merger with CBS’s parent company Paramount led to Colbert’s cancellation.
Before Colbert’s final show, Kimmel announced his show was going dark on the night of Colbert’s finale so as to give Colbert n competition.
“We have a lot to get into, but before we do, a quick programming note. We will be off tomorrow night out of respect for our colleague and friend Steven Colbert and the writers, producers, and staff and crew at The Late Show, whose final show on CBS airs opposite ours,” Kimmel stated.
Kimmel congratulated Colbert on his run and expressed hope the two could work together again.
“But that being said, I think it is most important to congratulate Stephen and the team at The Late Show for all the great work over the last five years and all the great work you will continue to do in other venues. I have no doubt,” Kimmel added. “Everyone at that show has always been very gracious to us. We never felt like we were competing against them, it was nothing like the old days of late-night. I always loved being on Stephen’s show. I loved having him here on ours. I hope we’re able to do that again. I hope he comes to visit as many times as possible.”
And despite the fact that CBS is still a left-leaning network that shreds Trump on its newscasts, Kimmel announced he was never watching CBS again and demanded his viewers join the boycott.
“I will be watching tomorrow night, I hope that those of you who watch our show will also tune in to CBS for the last time. Don’t ever watch it again,” Kimmel added. “But watch tomorrow night to wish Stephen and our friends at The Late Show a fond farewell.”
After Colbert’s finale aired, Present Trump took to Truth Social to blast Colbert as a no-talent hack.
“Amazing that he lasted so long! No talent, no ratings, no life. He was like a dead person. You could take any person off of the street, and they would be better than this total jerk. Thank goodness he’s finally gone!” Trump wrote.
When the ratings numbers came in, it was clear both why CBS canceled Colbert and how Colbert’s twisting of late-night TV into partisan pep rallies had wrecked the genre.
The ratings for the final episodes of Johnny Carson, David Letterman, and Colbert’s finales were:
Carson finale viewership: 55 million
Letterman finale viewership: 13.8 million
Colbert finale viewership: 6.74 million
The numbers speak for themselves, and they demonstrate that Trump was right that few will miss Colbert now that he’s gone.
