Something is happening out there in the grassroots, and it isn’t what the doom-and-gloom crowd online keeps insisting.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna went on national television and dropped a warning that every Republican voter needs to hear before November.
And what she told Jesse Watters about what’s coming will leave you demanding answers.
What Luna Told Jesse Watters
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) sat down recently with host Jesse Watters on FNC’s Jesse Watters Primetime to talk about Republican enthusiasm heading into the November election.
Watters asked her directly: “So you’re pretty in touch with the grassroots, Congresswoman. How fired up are they on the Republican side?”
Luna didn’t hesitate.
“Look, the convention yesterday was absolutely packed,” she told Watters. “I had spoken at around 4:44 Eastern, and what I would say is, the longer that we were there, the more people that came.”
And then she said something that cuts against the narrative being pushed in certain online corners of the Right.
“And what was really cool, though, is there was a lot of young people, a lot of young influencers, specifically that were there,” Luna said.
But the energy at the convention was only half the story. Luna made clear that something darker is running alongside all that enthusiasm.
According to Luna, there is a “suppression campaign” actively underway — and she tied it directly to foreign influences, specifically Communist China.
The Black Pill Problem and Who’s Behind It
“I’m really kind of pushing back along this black pill perspective that we’re seeing really happening online right now,” Luna said.
That’s a direct shot at the wave of online pessimism flooding conservative social media spaces — the kind of content designed to convince Republican voters that the fight is already lost before a single ballot gets cast.
Luna isn’t buying it. And she’s not alone in noticing that the source of some of that defeatism isn’t organic.
Communist China has a documented interest in shaping American political behavior. The Chinese Communist Party funds influence operations, props up front organizations, and uses social media platforms — many of which operate on infrastructure tied to Chinese-linked companies — to manipulate what Americans see, share, and believe.
Luna has been one of the most aggressive voices in Congress on the threat of Chinese foreign influence in American political life. Her bipartisan Foreign Propaganda Disclosure Act, introduced in recent months, targets exactly this kind of covert manipulation — foreign entities and bot networks using paid influencers to steer American political debates without disclosing their ties to foreign governments.
The pattern she’s describing isn’t hypothetical. It’s the same playbook the CCP has run in other countries: flood the information space with demoralizing content, suppress the sense of possibility among your political opponents, and let voter apathy do the rest.
Black pill content — the kind that tells conservatives the system is rigged, the midterms are already stolen, and showing up is pointless — fits that template perfectly.
Whether every piece of that content traces back to Beijing or not, the effect is identical to what a foreign adversary would want: Republicans who stay home.
What This Means for November and Beyond
Luna’s warning deserves to be taken seriously, not because she’s the first person to raise it, but because she has the receipts.
Earlier this year, Luna announced the House Oversight Committee would call China-based billionaire Neville Singham to testify regarding the funding of a group that organized protests in Los Angeles. She alleged that the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a Communist political party to which Singham has previously donated, is also receiving funding from the Chinese Communist Party.
“If he refuses to appear, he will be subpoenaed, and if he ignores that, he will be referred to the DOJ for prosecution,” Luna said at the time.
She has also stated plainly: “China is not our friend.”
That’s the same China now allegedly running a suppression campaign aimed at Republican voters heading into November. The same regime that obscured the origins of COVID-19, that buys up American farmland near military installations, that funds influence operations across the Western world — that regime has a direct interest in a low-turnout Republican electorate.
Think about that for a moment. Every piece of content designed to convince a Trump voter that their vote doesn’t matter, that the process is hopelessly corrupt, that showing up is pointless — that content serves Beijing’s interests whether or not Beijing wrote the script.
Luna is pushing back on all of it. And the convention she described — packed, energetic, full of young people and influencers who showed up and kept coming as the hours went on — is the antidote to the manufactured despair being pumped into conservative online spaces.
The grassroots isn’t defeated. It’s showing up.
But the suppression campaign Luna is describing doesn’t need to defeat Republicans outright. It just needs to shave a few points off turnout in the right places. It just needs enough people to scroll past enough demoralizing content and decide the whole thing isn’t worth their time.
That’s how you lose without a fight. And that’s exactly what Communist China would prefer.
Luna has spent her congressional career fighting Chinese influence operations, pushing legislation to expose foreign propaganda networks, and sounding the alarm on the CCP’s long game inside American borders. Her warning about a suppression campaign isn’t a campaign talking point. It’s a pattern she’s been tracking for years.
The question now is whether Republican voters are paying attention — or whether they’re too busy absorbing the black pill content designed to make them give up.
Luna’s answer, based on what she saw at that convention, is that the energy is there. The people are there. Young voters, young influencers, a packed room that kept filling up.
But Communist China is counting on voters never hearing that part of the story.
