American skier Hunter Hess kicked off the woke whining when he told reporters he wasn’t proud to represent America because of ICE operations in Minnesota and that he was only representing “family and friends.”
“I think, for me, it’s more I’m representing my friends and family back home, the people that represented it before me, all the things that I believe are good about the U.S. If it aligns with my moral values, I feel like I’m representing it. Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S,” Hess ranted.
This became a topic of discussion on the popular Boomer and Gio show on WFAN in New York.
Co-host Greg Giannotti sarcastically said some athletes are “happy to represent America.”
That remark stung co-host Boomer Esiason, the 1988 NFL Most Valuable Player, who ripped athletes who didn’t understand that the Olympics were about representing your country, not standing on a soapbox to moan about your political grievances over the results of the last election.
“Yeah, they seemed to be happy to represent America,” Esiason declared. “Not everybody is, but everybody should just pipe down and just do their sport, and play for our country, and respect the flag, and respect everything that’s going on.”
Traveling in Azerbaijan, Vice President J.D. Vance echoed Esiason’s comments, telling reporters that athletes should realize the Olympics and representing their country is a cause bigger than themselves.
“The Olympic athletes were unbelievable, I know the entire country is rooting for them — yes, you’re going to have some Olympic athletes who pop off about politics, I feel like that happens every Olympics,” Vance stated. “My advice to them would be to try to bring the country together.”
Ever since Colin Kaepernick began his anti-American national anthem protest, the left sought to transform sports into a vehicle to push its political agenda.
The sports media is even more leftist than the political media, so woke journalists are all too happy to egg on America-hating athletes to air their grievances about how upset they are that Donald Trump is President.
Boomer Esiason spoke for tens of millions of Americans who are fed up with the left-wing athletes who think the Olympics are their personal political soapbox.
