President Trump told Republicans that the SAVE Act will guarantee victory in the midterm elections.
But then the impossible happened.
And Donald Trump just made this explosive demand to pass the SAVE Act.
RINO Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is allowing Democrats to kill the SAVE Act.
Thune won’t force Democrats to stage a talking filibuster, which means that after each Democrat speaks twice, Republicans can then pass the bill with a simple majority vote.
Speaking to reporters, Thune rattled off a ton of excuses about why he is allowing Democrats to tank President Trump’s signature legislative agenda item.
“The talking filibuster issue is one on which there is not, certainly, a unified Republican conference, and there would have to be,” Thune claimed.
“If you go down that path, you’re talking about the need to table what are going to be numerous amendments and an ability to keep 50 Republicans unified, pretty much on every single vote. And there’s just not, there isn’t support for doing that at this point,” Thune continued.
The SAVE Act would mandate voter ID in all 50 states, require proof of citizenship to register to vote, and ban no-excuse mail-in voting.
Trump spoke to the press before departing the White House and implored Thune to “be a leader” and find a way to pass the SAVE Act.
“Well, he’s got to be a leader. You know, he’s a leader. He’s got to get them. It’s the most popular bill I’ve ever seen put before Congress. And it’s voter ID, and it’s voter — you have to be able to be a citizen to vote. It’s called citizenship,” Trump declared.
Trump said the SAVE Act was a no-brainer conservative wish list.
“And we’re also adding in no men playing in women’s sports, no transgender mutilation of our children, and no mail-in ballots, fake mail-in ballots. We have none of that, except in the case of the military, etcetera…” Trump went on to say.
Trump also correctly noted that Americans overwhelmingly approved of the SAVE Act.
“It is the Save America Act. It’s the most popular bill I think I’ve ever put before Congress,” Trump concluded.
Do you support or oppose the SAVE Act, which requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections?

But Thune picked his side.
And it’s with the Trump-haters like RINO Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski.
Murkowski voted to convict Trump in the January 6 impeachment hoax and opposed Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.
And now Murkowski is joining Thune to oppose the SAVE Act and even copied the left’s lies about how the SAVE Act will “disenfranchise” Americans.
“The implementation in a rural state like Alaska is going to disenfranchise an extraordinary majority. And while I support citizenship voting and voting ID, I want to make sure that it gets implemented,” Murkowski ranted.
