Most Americans assume country music is the soundtrack for red-state America.
But there are pockets of woke resistance inside the industry.
And what one country music star said about Super Bowl halftime will make your blood boil.
Zach Bryan is one of the biggest stars in country music.
The Grammy Award-winning star of the hit song “With Heaven” trashed Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show in a now-deleted Instagram post.
Bryan wrote that Kid Rock, the rest of the performers, the Turning Point USA organizers, and fans who tuned in were losers and crybabies for staging an alternative halftime show after the NFL named anti-American rapper Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl halftime headliner.
“I don’t care what side you’re on,” Bryan wrote on Xl. “A bunch of adults throwing temper tantrums and their own halftime show is embarrassing as hell and the most cringe shit on the planet.”
Bryan then smeared Trump supporters as “douchebags” for objecting to him calling them names in the first place.
“Bro, the irony in how upset a bunch of middle-aged douchebags are in my DM’s this morning hahahahah,” Bryan wrote in a subsequent post.
Millions of patriotic Americans objected to Bad Bunny over his ICE attacks, the fact that he performed Spanish-only music at America’s largest cultural event, and equated the United States to just one of many “Americas” when he listed it with a series of third-world nations.
Like Bad Bunny, Bryan disparages ICE.
Last year, Bryan released a song entitled “Bad News,” where Bryan attacked ICE as a fascist secret police.
The lyrics read:
“And ICE is gonna come, bust down your door
Try to build a house that no one builds anymore
But I got a telephone
Kids are all scared and all alone
The Boss stopped bumping, the rock stopped rolling
The middle finger is rising, and it won’t stop showing
I got some bad news
The fading of the red, white, and blue.”
But Turning Point ended up the big winner of the halftime wars.
The All-American halftime show drew 25 million views across various social media platforms.
And Turning Point USA’s Andrew Klovet announced the show would return for the following season.
The All-American Halftime Show pulled in OVER 25 MILLION views on just YouTube and Rumble alone, with a lot of large groups watching together, so the number of viewers is likely far higher. And the numbers are still climbing (broadcast partners, fast channel partners, and final… pic.twitter.com/qNw3wfXrXR
