Barbara Streisand Defends Fauci After Disastrous Week
Actress and singer Barbara Streisand is one of the titans of liberal Hollywood.
So it was no surprise that Streisand rushed to Fauci’s defense after Fauci pled the Fifth 111 times in front of a Senate committee and then faced a criminal referral to the Justice Department on contempt-of-Congress charges.
Streisand declared Fauci was an “American hero,” defended his conduct during the pandemic, and praised his role in developing the controversial COVID vaccine.
“Dr. Anthony Fauci has been subjected to a disgraceful witch hunt by Senate Republicans,” Streisand posted on X. “Dr Fauci is an American hero.”
“Amid the horrors of the COVID pandemic, which killed one million Americans, Dr Fauci was a voice of reason and helped speed the development of the vaccine to prevent hospitalization,” Streisand added. “The GOP is attempting to rewrite the history of the pandemic.”
This was the exact opposite of the truth.
Fauci lied to Americans by claiming the vaccine prevented transmission and infection.
Americans later came to understand that social distancing, mask mandates and lockdowns weren’t based on any actual science and were merely Fauci’s totalitarian whims.
Streisand was the one rewriting the history of the pandemic by claiming Fauci’s made science-based decisions that saved lives instead of destroying them.
Fauci’s Criminal Contempt
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, the Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, announced on X that the committee voted to refer Fauci to the Department of Justice for contempt of Congress charges.
“PASSED BY REPUBLICANS ON BEHALF OF THE MILLIONS OF AMERICANS AND THEIR FAMILIES STILL AFFECTED YEARS AFTER THE COVID PANDEMIC, THE RESOLUTION TO HOLD ANTHONY FAUCI IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS HAS PASSED OUT OF THE SENATE HOMELAND SECURITY AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE BY A VOTE OF 8-5,” Paul wrote on X.
The issue at hand was Fauci asserting his right not to incriminate himself even though Joe Biden pardoned him, an act many argued amounted to obstruction.
The contempt resolution stated that Fauci “was knowingly provided ‘A Full and Unconditional Pardon’ dated January 19, 2025, ‘For any offenses against the United States which he may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014, through the date of this pardon arising from or in any manner related to his service as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, as a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force or the White House COVID–19 Response Team, or as Chief Medical Advisor to the President.’”
Paul made that point in a statement contending that the issue at hand is “whether a witness, who has received the benefit of a sweeping federal pardon, can be ordered by this committee to answer questions — and then defy that order without consequence.”
“We only have one question: Whether to hold a witness responsible for his contempt toward Congress / The witness had many chances to answer the questions pertinent to our investigation, and he made his decision 111 times,” Paul added.
