Bill Maher Slams Democrats for Embracing Woke Socialism
Liberal comedian Bill Maher is a lifelong Democrat who has never in a million years considered voting Republican.
But that’s all changing now,
In an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, Maher slammed the Democrat Party for going off the deep end as Democrat Socialist of America candidates, backed by Islamist Communist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, rack up primary victories,
“Every day I hear about a new very radical guy. I feel very good about like 10 whenever years ago, I did lose fans — because I wasn’t gonna go along with some of this crazy stuff on the left too,” Maher stated. “I didn’t change really on what I thought about the right. But I can’t sit and just not notice stuff, which people seem to want to do because it’s all about my team or your team. But yeah, there’s some crazy stuff.”
Maher ripped Democrats for embracing Hamas, saying they are “cheering for the intifada, cut! I’m out,”
“They’re cowardly,” Maher added of Democrats who refuse to confront the ascendent socialist wing of the party.
The Democrat Socialist of America’s Platform Calls for Communism
Maher said no one had to take his word about the extreme turn the Democrat Party’s taken by embracing socialism; they just had to read the Democrat Socialist of America’s platform, which Maher told Karl called for a communist takeover of the American economy.
“OK, I’ve read the quotes from the DSA platform from their own mouths,” Maher went on to say. “Don’t tell me I’m not seeing what I am seeing. And DSA, again, they say things like ‘takeover of key industries’ … That’s communism. You know, there is a definition.”
And in fact, Maher is telling the truth.
The Democrat Socialist of America platform calls for the government to seize control and establish “public ownership” of major American corporations.
“Establish public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries to ensure democratic control and accountability to the people. Enact aggressive wealth taxes on the richest individuals and corporations to spend on public goods and infrastructure,” the Democrat Socialist of America platform reads.
Maher then dropped the kicker, telling Karl his vote is up for grabs and he could cast a ballot for JD Vance in 2028 if the Democrat Party continues to run on a communist platform and a socialist like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the party’s nominee.
“Yes, if this is the Democratic side, yes,” Maher told Karl when asked if he could vote for a Republican in 2028.
