Mike Pence Smears Trump as an Iran Appeaser
Pence was among the many establishment warmongers slamming President Trump’s deal to end the Iran War and prevent that country from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Pence blasted Trump as practicing appeasement because he sought to end the war and refused calls to order hundreds of thousands of American troops into Iran to topple the regime.
“But the memorandum of understanding with Iran, signed last week, falls well short of what is required to end the Iranian threat. It smacks of the kind of appeasement the president rightly rejected during our first term. It isn’t the deal a defeated Iran should be getting. It isn’t even a deal—it’s a plan to make a plan,” Pence wrote.
Pence then set a series of goals that couldn’t be accomplished in the 60-day negotiating period set up by the deal as a pretext for a ground invasion.
“This 60-day period should be used to secure what this agreement doesn’t yet provide: an end to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, an end to Iranian-backed terror, and an end to its half-century of warfare against the U.S. and Israel. If those reasonable goals cannot be achieved, Mr. Trump should let the armed forces finish the job,” Pence continued.
Laura Ingraham Responds
Fox News host Laura Ingraham fired back at Pence over his lies about Trump engaging in appeasement of the Iranian regime simply because he rejected calls for a massive regime change war that would have led to another endless conflict in the Middle East.
Ingraham asked if Pence really thought Trump dismissed a planned ground invasion because he didn’t want a pro-American government in Iran?
“Does Pence really believe what Hegseth, Rubio, and General Caine are saying—that they had a plan to easily overthrow the Iranian government and install a pro-American government, and they presented it to Trump, and Trump said, “No, I don’t want to do that”?” Ingraham began.
“That’s just ludicrous. Even war hawk Lindsey Graham doesn’t think that,” Ingraham added.
President Trump campaigned on keeping America out of forever wars in the Middle East, and Ingraham explained to viewers that Trump was briefed on every option and saw that a ground invasion of Iran would lead to an open-ended war with thousands of American casualties.
Ingraham also assured viewers that Trump is doing what he always does – pursue the best deal possible that advances American interests.
“The truth is—and yes, I know this—Trump has been briefed on all the options. And the one thing we know about Trump is that he does not stop until he gets the best deal possible, and his decision-making takes into account the reality of all the facts on the ground,” Ingraham concluded.
