Sean Hannity and Ted Cruz are normally on the same side in a fight.
Not this time.
And Sean Hannity had one emergency response to Ted Cruz that stunned Fox viewers.
Ted Cruz Attacks Trump’s Iran Deal
Cuz is one of the leading neoconservative voices attacking President Trump’s deal to end the Iran War.
Trump told Americans that this deal accomplished his objective of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
But Cruz demanded that Trump go further and initiate a regime change war with Iran, which would necessitate Trump ordering hundreds of thousands of American boots on the ground.
Cruz attacked the deal as dangerous and Trump as naively following bad advice.
“I think the president, unfortunately, is receiving bad advice on this deal,” Cruz told reporters.
Sean Hannity responds
Like Cruz, Sean Hannity is also an Iran hawk.
But Hannity supports Trump’s Iran deal and told viewers of his Fox News show that he’s spoken to the President and his negotiators and that critics are misrepresenting the memorandum of understanding in that it doesn’t preclude Trump from ordering new strikes if Iran fails to live up to its end of the bargain.
“Now, I had a conversation with the president, and I’ve talked to [U.S. negotiator] Steve Witkoff, I’ve talked to others in the administration,” Hannity explained. “There is so much more under the surface that has already been discussed in deep detail surrounding Iran and this working agreement. I see many people reacting to the memorandum itself that are completely ignoring those words of Donald Trump, that he has no problem at all – he said it to me directly – going back and bombing any time he wants.”
Hannity went on to tell viewers that Trump’s own words about how he plans to proceed are what matter.
“To me, his words are far more impactful than any memorandum if you want to know what’s in the president’s head and what he’s thinking,” Hannity added.
Hannity also hinted that the deal, which hasn’t been made public yet, was more comprehensive towards accomplishing America’s goals than anyone let on.
“So there’s a lot of talk and analysis about the memorandum versus the words of Donald Trump that he’ll rain down hell on them if, in fact, the very things he’s been articulating all throughout this conflict are not fulfilled at the end of this deal,” Hannity concluded. “He will be the ultimate decider here. I put way more stock in what the president is saying himself and what the president has outlined himself, and the understanding that they have gone way deeper than that document that was released today, except they are not telling people yet.”
The Terms of Trump’s Deal
Critics like Cruz are misrepresenting the deal by falsely claiming Trump is paying Iran $300 billion.
That is not true.
The $300 billion figure derives from the amount of money Gulf nations are willing to invest in Iran if it follows through with the terms of the agreement and dismantles its nuclear program.
Trump isn’t giving Iran anything up front.
This is distrust but verify, where Trump only grants economic benefits to Iran if it complies with the deal.
