President Trump and Tucker Carlson held a private meeting.
The two spoke frankly.
And Trump said three words to Tucker Carlson that no one saw coming.
Popular podcaster Tucker Carlson was among the voices in conservative media that broke with Trump on the Iran War.
Carlson met with Trump multiple times in the run-up to the war and urged the President not to go through with attacking Iran.
In an interview with Megyn Kelly, Carlson argued to Trump that the voices most strongly lobbying Trump to to go war with Iran – Israeli Prime Minister Benajmin Netanyahu, Fox New founder Rupert Murdoch, Fox commentators Marc Thiessen and Mark Levin, as well as Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro, all hated Trump and were pushing him down a risky path because they didn’t mid destroying his presidency if it accomplished their goal in securing Israel’s future.
“I said, Look, Netanyahu hates you. You know that they don’t like each other at all. Or the people pushing you toward this would include Rupert Murdoch, who despises you.
Trump knows that, of course, Mark Thiessen has always hated you. Ben Shapiro, they hate you. Mark Levin hates you. Has always hated you. Yes, the people pushing you to I said this right to his face. The people pushing you to do this want to destroy you, and they’re doing it on behalf of Israel,” Carlson told Kelly.
Netanyahu was the first world leader to congratulate Joe Biden on winning the 2020 election, without even allowing Trump to contest the results.
Rupert Murdoch supports amnesty for illegal aliens and tried to push the GOP to move on from Trump by banning Trump from the network following the 2022 midterm election.
“Everyone knows that there’s this ‘soft ban’ or ‘silent ban,’” one source close to Trump told Semafor in 2023 about why Trump hadn’t appeared on the network for months. “It’s certainly — however you want to say, quiet ban, soft ban, whatever it is — indicative of how the Murdochs feel about Trump in this particular moment.”
Court documents showed an email chain between Murdoch, his son Lachlan, and Sean Hannity, where Lachlan warned Hannity he and his father were about to ban Trump from the airwaves in the final weeks of the election because Trump criticized Fox News ’ coverage.
“Sean, sorry, but the president is not coming back on air if he uses it to attack us,” Lachlan wrote, adding, “It is the same rule we have with the other side. This is a golden rule.”
In 2016, Ben Shapiro wrote, “I will never vote for Donald Trump. Ever.”
Shapiro supported Trump in 2020 before trying to defeat Trump again in the 2024 GOP Presidential primary.
Levin also declared himself a Never Trumper in 2016.
Carlson told Kelly that Trump was reluctant to go to war with Iran and understood that Shaprio, Levin, Thiessen, Murdoch, and Netanyahu all want to see Trump’s America First Agenda destroyed.
“I said that right to his face,” Carlson added, telling Kelly that Trump replied, “Yeah, I know.’ “
And now that Trump is trying to negotiate a peace deal to end the war, the war supporters are showing their true colors and attacking Trump as feckless and weak.
Radio host Hugh Hewitt called on Israel to sabotage the peace talks.
“At this point, I think it’s in Israel’s interests to act against Iran in a way that blows up this deal,” Hewitt stated.
Thiessen ripped Trump as an incompetent coward unwilling to follow through on total war.
“Trump risks snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in Iran,” Thiessen wrote.
Levin ranted that a deal to end the war would be a “disastrous result,” fuming that “the Iranian regime will survive, the Iranian people will face even more extensive brutality, and the Israeli government could fall in the October election. A disastrous result.”
Shapiro raged that Trump was foolish and should escalate the war by launching even more attacks on Iran as opposed to negotiating.
Neoconservatives were the original Never Trumpers.
Shapiro, Levin, and the rest all opposed Trump because Trump blasted the Iraq War as a mistake.
Many changed their tune in the hopes they could influence President Trump in going to war with Iran because they’ve wanted a regime change war with Iran, similar to the one in Iraq, for decades.
But President Trump wants a short and decisive war that ends with Iran not having a nuclear weapon.
And now that Levin, Shapiro, and other Iran hawks are realizing Trump doesn’t share their zeal for an endless regime change war, they are turning on him, just as Carlson predicted and Trump knew.
