Many conservatives hoped that an American becoming the Pope would lead to better relations between the Church and the Trump administration.
But the new Pope went woke right off the bat.
And Pope Leo instantly regretted starting this ugly fight with Tom Homan.
Pope Francis was a woke leftist who routinely attacked Donald Trump and opponents of open borders as unchristian and venal, compared them to 1930s Germany.
When Pope Leo ascended to the head of the Catholic Church, there was brief hope for reconciliation.
Leo’s brother is a massive Trump supporter.
And Leo is even a registered Republican.
But it was not to be.
Leo attacked supporters of Trump’s immigration crackdown as pro-life frauds and smeared mass deportations as “inhumane.
“Someone who says I’m against abortion but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life,” Leo declared. “And someone who says I’m against abortion, but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”
Border Czar Tom Homan fired back at Leo.
“Look, what he doesn’t understand is the flip side to illegal migration,” Homan told Breitbart.
Homan explained that what was actually inhumane was encouraging illegal aliens to risk the trek to the United States, where rape and death are legitimate risks.
It was also inhumane, Homan argued, to open the border to delay fentanyl, which kills tens of thousands of Americans every year.
“Thirty-one percent of women get raped making that journey, 4,000 aliens died making that journey under Joe Biden. A quarter million Americans died of fentanyl because he opened the borders,” Homan added.
Homan said he would be happy to meet with Leo and explain how border security is actually the most humane policy the government could adopt.
“When you overwhelm the Border Patrol, all the bad things happen: Sex trafficking increases, fentanyl increases. Securing the border saves lives. And I’d be happy to sit down and explain it to him: Illegal migration is not a victimless crime,” Homan went on to say.
“So President Trump, having illegal immigration down 96 percent, he’s saving thousands of lives every year,” Homan continued.
Homan told Breitbart that he was a practicing Catholic, and nowhere in the Catholic teaching did it say that a country couldn’t have borders or law enforcement.
“I’m a lifelong Catholic, a still-practicing Catholic,” Homan concluded. “The Catholic faith is always in support of law enforcement — always has been. Pope Leo should be, too.”
This fight over immigration will keep raging.
Democrats want to import as many illegal aliens as possible in the hopes of converting them into new voters.
The left is even receiving political cover from the Pope to do so.
But Tom Homan isn’t going to allow this pro-open borders propaganda to go unanswered.
