Democrats keep hunting for any clip that makes President Trump look unfit.
One MS NOW host thought he finally found it at a Kentucky rally.
But Greg Gutfeld spotted what the left keeps missing, and his explanation stings.
Lawrence O’Donnell Wants the 25th Amendment Over a Rally Riff
President Trump spent the final stretch of the 2026 midterm campaign doing what he has always done on the stump. He packed arenas, tossed the teleprompter aside, and talked to people like a guy at the end of the bar.
At one stop in Kentucky, Trump turned his attention to US Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) and launched into a bit about the Ohio Republican’s physique.
“I examined his ***, and then I looked at his shoulders,” Trump told the crowd. “I looked at his feet, I looked at his hand. I looked at his jawline, studying.”
The crowd laughed. Lawrence O’Donnell did not.
On his MS NOW program The Last Word, O’Donnell played the footage for viewers and then assured them, “This is not AI.” From there he declared, “This is madness. This is utter insanity.”
And the host didn’t stop at name-calling. O’Donnell called on Vice President JD Vance and the Cabinet to “invoke the 25th Amendment and remove the powers of the presidency from Donald Trump.”
All of that over a riff about a senator’s build.
O’Donnell even scripted Trump’s defense for him, imagining the President telling Congress, “Ah, it was just a joke. It’s just me having fun.” He never seemed to consider that the joke explanation might be the correct one.
Gutfeld Spells Out What the MS NOW Crowd Can’t See
Greg Gutfeld took up the O’Donnell rant on Fox News’ The Five, and he didn’t bother hiding his amusement.
“Lawrence O’Donnell is the most amazing person at missing the humor in anything,” Gutfeld said.
Gutfeld told his co-hosts the whole routine was self-deprecating. In his telling, Trump poked fun at his own shape by gushing over a man in far better condition. Anybody who has ever ribbed a buddy at the gym gets it.
But Gutfeld wasn’t finished. He used the moment to make a much bigger point about how Trump sees the world.
“He is an extreme example of a pattern recognition machine,” Gutfeld said. “He’s guided solely by his eyes and his ears.”
Gutfeld offered a New York example. Hand Trump a report claiming the subways have never been safer, then let him hear about somebody getting shot at the 53rd Street station. Gutfeld acted out the President’s likely reply: “that’s not what I heard. No, it’s bad. It’s bad.”
Most folks who ride those trains at midnight would side with Trump. No spreadsheet ever made anybody feel safer on an empty platform.
And that, really, sums up the Trump voter. They trust what they see over what some agency press release tells them to see.
Why Noticing Became a Crime on the Left
Gutfeld saved his heaviest punch for the other side of the aisle. The left, he argued, runs on the opposite instinct entirely.
“They consider any act of noticing to be, by definition, racist, xenophobic,” Gutfeld said.
He ran down the list. Mention the chaos at the border a few years back, and Democrats branded you a xenophobe. Bring up crime, and out comes the racist label. “If you notice anything, if you notice reality, then you shall be punished,” Gutfeld added.
Anyone who lived through the Biden years knows the drill by heart.
Millions of illegal aliens poured across the southern border while the Biden White House insisted everything was under control. Border sheriffs noticed. Ranchers noticed. Families in towns that suddenly couldn’t find a hospital bed noticed. Democrats and their media allies told all of them they were imagining things, or worse.
But crime followed the same script. After the riots of 2020 torched cities from Minneapolis to Portland, activists pushed to defund police departments and then scolded anyone who pointed out what happened next. Neighborhoods got the bill for that lecture.
Gutfeld’s theory explains something else, too. A movement that punishes noticing ends up with a base that stops noticing. That’s how a party wanders into a midterm campaign shouting about a senator’s shoulders while voters worry about grocery bills and safe streets.
The Old Man in the Oval Office Democrats Swore They Never Saw
Here’s the part that makes O’Donnell’s crusade almost comical.
The MS NOW host has devoted segment after segment to the claim that Trump’s cognitive health is the biggest story on the planet. He has talked about it, by his own account, for years.
Yet Democrats and the friendly press spent years waving off Joe Biden’s obvious decline. Special counsel Robert Hur’s 2024 report described Biden as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” The White House attacked Hur. Biden’s defenders in the media questioned whether a lawyer had any business judging memory at all.
Then came the June 2024 debate meltdown, and the cover-up collapsed on live television in front of the whole country.
So the left noticed nothing for years, right up until it became impossible not to notice. Now the same crowd wants to diagnose dementia from a punchline.
And that’s Gutfeld’s point in a nutshell. Noticing is permitted on the left. It just has to point in one direction.
There’s also something a little rich about a liberal cable host begging JD Vance to push Trump out of the Oval Office. Vance stands as the clear America First heir for 2028, and nobody at MS NOW is exactly throwing him a parade. One suspects O’Donnell would discover a fresh constitutional crisis about ten minutes after Vance took the oath.
Expect Plenty More 25th Amendment Talk From Cable Hosts
None of this will stop. O’Donnell has already made the 25th Amendment a recurring theme, and his colleagues across left-wing cable seem happy to follow his lead.
Expect every off-script line from Trump to get the same treatment. A grainy clip, a dramatic pause, a solemn host, and a call for the Cabinet to step in.
But Trump’s voters have watched this movie before. They saw the Russia hoax, two partisan impeachments, and a parade of experts who swore Biden was sharp as a tack behind closed doors.
And they’ve noticed a pattern of their own.
Lawrence O’Donnell can keep searching for madness in a rally joke. Greg Gutfeld already found the real pattern, and it sits on the other side of the camera.
