Bill Maher Pokes Fun at the Story of the Last Ditch Bar
The Boston Globe’s story about the lesbian Last Ditch Bar created a social media sensation as it symbolized the worst excesses of the woke left.
Maher described the story of the bar igniting a customer revolt by ending its N-95 mask mandate to his Real Time audience.
“Here’s what’s going on at the Last Ditch Bar,” Maher began before going on to say “It’s a very woke bar, which is fine. Their mission statement [is], ‘For dykes, transsexuals, gender freaks, workers and friends.’”
“I love the way workers and friends are fourth and fifth on the list,” Maher quipped.
The bar let patrons enter even if they couldn’t afford the cover charge, which predictably led to financial ruin, since if customers can’t pay, the business makes no money.
“But economically, it wasn’t working,” Maher added. “Because even though there was a cover charge, if you couldn’t pay, they wouldn’t make you pay. Homeless, they were welcome in there. Not the cops, but the homeless. But also, it was masked”
A lesbian bar mandating COVID masks seems like a fever dream from 2020.
The fact that it existed in 2026 spoke to the pathologies that run rampant on the left.
Last Ditch Ends its Mask Mandate
To save the bar, the owners announced they were making masks optional on Saturday nights to try and attract more customers.
“It is with love we inform our immunocompromised disabled divas we will be opening Saturday nights as mask optional,” Last Ditch posted to Instagram.
Maher told his audience this went over about as well as one would expect.
“And of course, the tolerant left did what they always do — became very intolerant and left,” Maher went on to say.
Last Ditch’s followers attached the bar as racists, ableists, and Nazi-style eugenicists.
“Just say you’re being complicit in a mass disabling event and get it over with,” one commenter wrote.
Another posted that “people like you kill disabled people in the name of your own leisure and convenience.”
“I hope your venue gets firebombed for robbing my fellow immunocompromised people of their Saturday plans just to scrape extra revenue from ablists [sic],” a third commentator posted.
“This is not an accessible post,” a fourth wrote. “It indicates the lack of care or interest in Disability intersectionality.”
The bar is now in chaos with two of the three owners in hiding and the other entering clown college.
“But by the time of Last Ditch’s monthly community meeting on September 11, only one of the original founders, Matellian, is still involved. The two others stepped back from the daily operation months before, Matellian says, citing various pressures and health issues. One had enrolled in clown school,” the Boston Globe reported.
And this is all because a lesbian bar found out communism doesn’t pay the bills and made COVID masks optional.
