Obama Demands Democrats Pass AI Power Grab
The growth of AI is becoming one of the dominant issues of the 2026 elections.
Polls show Americans are wary of this rapidly developing technology, with 81 percent backing government regulation of AI.
Obama took that message to Democrats in a closed-door meeting.
“This is something that is moving very fast in private hands, and if we don’t get on top of it, I think can be dangerous,” Obama stated. “If we do get on top of it, I do think it’s beneficial. I genuinely think it’s going to accelerate, for example, drug development in ways that can help us cure diseases. I do think that this can help us figure out pathways for a clean energy future.”
Obama acted like the election was already in the bag and assumed House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries would be the next Speaker and demanded he put Democratic Party regulatory control over AI at the top of the agenda.
“Once you are speaker, I would strongly urge that the Democrats put together a framework for a very public conversation,” Obama added.
Obama also insisted every Democrat running for President in 2028 develop a “very clear plan” for regulating AI as one of their “central agendas.”
Jeffries acknowledged that he heard his marching orders loud and clear.
“President Obama is correct that decisive action must be taken on artificial intelligence,” Jeffries declared. “Republicans have abdicated their responsibility to govern on behalf of the American people. We will not repeat their error.”
What’s Really Going On
Obama’s instructions to Democrats on AI came in the wake of a bombshell essay from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
Amodei’s essay came in response to whistleblower Jacob Coxon, who posted a viral thread to social media about how everyone involved in AI understands this technology could bring about mass extinction by 2030, and called for a slowdown on AI superintelligence research.
“We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain,” Amodei stated,
“Left unchecked, it could outrun our ability to understand and control these systems, and so must be pursued very carefully, if at all,” Amodei argued.
But Obama and the Democrats aren’t looking to create a framework to prevent AI from initiating the apocalypse.
Rather, conservatives contend that Obama and the Democrats are scheming to impose algorithmic control over AI that allows the left to censor the internet of conservative views, spy, track, and debank political opponents to end all opposition to their agenda.
