It’s been a little over one year since an assassin murdered Charlie Kirk.
Kirk’s murder was a defining moment for America and the conservative movement.
And Megyn Kelly made one personal request to Erika Kirk that sent shockwaves.
Erika Kirk Grieves for Charlie
Erika Kirk was left to pick up the pieces after the assassin’s bullet struck down her husband.
It was up to Erika to raise the couple’s two small children while grieving the loss of her husband, a process she outlined in an essay published in the New York Times.
Erika Kirk said Second Lady Usha Vance offered the key advice that helped her move forward.
Kirk wrote that “As she held my hand, she said: “You know when you’re on an airplane with your kids, and you’re going to land in 15 minutes, but the kids are going crazy, screaming, throwing things, and then the plane lands, and the kids relax, and everything is fine again? That’s how it will be. Just get through the next 15 minutes.”
Piers Morgan interviewed Megyn Kelly, one of Erika Kirk’s closest friends, and asked her about Erika’s essay.
Kelly told Morgan that it pains her to see Erika Kirk absorb false attacks, smears, and conspiracy theories that fly around the internet about her.
“I mean, I come to this with a bias because I love Erika and, uh, I consider her a dear friend, and I hate to see her suffer. I have, it’s been very painful to watch her suffer this year,” Kelly stated.
“The overwhelming suffering has been caused by Charlie’s murder and not by the internet nonsense, but that’s been an added burden on her. There’s no question,” Kelly added.
Kelly asserted that part of the reason so many on social media tried to demonize her was because she turned from a public into a private figure by assuming the mantle of CEO of Turning Point USA.
“But I think part of the reason this is happening is because Erika stayed in the public eye as the CEO of Turning Point,” Kelly continued.
Megyn Kelly’s Request to Erika Kirk
Kelly said she wished more people accepted the evidence about the pro-transgender leftist charged with killing Kirk and called the conspiracies about Erika being involved “crazy.”
“You know, the stuff around did she kill Charlie? That’s all nonsense. To me that’s so crazy. I don’t even spend any time on it,” Kelly declared.
However, Kelly said that some of the attacks on Erika over how she acted or dressed came with the territory of operating as a public figure in the political arena.
“But like the criticisms of Erika’s behavior or how she is at this event or how she is at that event, that’s going to happen if you are at the head of a political organization,” Kelly remarked.
That’s why Kelly said she’s had many conversations with Erika, where she suggested Erika step down as Turning Point CEO, focus on her children, and leave the nasty political world behind.
“And she and I have had many conversations about this together. I think she feels very strongly that she was the only one who could get the organization through at least the first year and she’s done that,” Kelly told Morgan.
Kelly went on to say that “She miraculously and heroically she’s done that. And I don’t know.”
“I personally would like to see her take some personal time just so she can remove herself from the non-stop battering ram that is heading up a political organization in the United States of America and allow herself in year two to just work on healing, you know, helping her kids heal and herself heal. I don’t know what she’s going to do, but that’s my prayer for her,” Kelly concluded.
