Peter Navarro Blasts Fox News as Hostile to MAGA
Trump White House advisor and longtime ally Peter Navarro blasted Fox News’s decision to bench anchor Maria Bartiromo as further evidence Fox News opposed the MAGA agenda in an interview on Greg Kelly’s Newsmax program.
Navarro singled out network President Suzanne Scott as the top enforcer for the Murdoch family’s resistance to President Trump reshaping the Republican Party on issues like trade and immigration.
“The bigger story here is, forget about anybody thinking that Fox is a conservative network that’s friendly to MAGA, that’s friendly to Trump,” Navarro stated. “Suzanne Scott is the enforcer. They’ll feed you some red meat over there — the easy stuff, the trans stuff, stuff like that — but when it comes down to MAGA things, Suzanne Scott gets rid of everybody over there who wants to talk about MAGA issues.”
Navarro noted that Fox News also fired anchors Lou Dobbs and Tucker Carlson is similarly sudden fashion, over Dobbs’ support for President Trump, asserting that Democrats stole the 2020 election and Carlson’s opposition to Joe Biden’s war in Ukraine as proof that Fox News wanted to derail any aspect of the Trump agenda that deviated from GOP establishment orthodoxy.
“This was all about talking about Trump issues,” Navarro added. “You fire people like Tucker Carlson and Lou Dobbs, now Maria Bartiromo. That throws fear into all these other anchors and keeps them in line. It’s like, ‘Don’t talk about kinda Trump stuff,’ right? And we know how that network has not treated Donald Trump very well.”
Why Fox News Parted Ways with Bartiromo
Puck’s Dylan Byers reported that Fox News ended its relationship with Bartiromo over Bartiromo altering the White House to Fox News’ orders to censor President Trump’s speech outlining how Communist China meddled in the 2020 election to help rig it for Joe Biden.
Byers reported that “Ralph Giordano, the senior vice president of programming for the Fox Business Network, sent a text message to Maria Bartiromo’s producers with guidance to forgo coverage of the speech on her upcoming show.”
Bartiromo planned to cover the speech and alerted Navarro to Fox News’s plans to spike her coverage.
“As it turned out, Bartiromo had been planning to cover Trump’s speech on her show, according to sources familiar with her plans. She had also planned to book Peter Navarro, a senior counselor to Trump who has aggressively pushed the voter fraud narrative, to talk about the president’s remarks and the administration’s broader concerns over election integrity,” Byrers added.
Navarro took this revelation up the chain at the White House, where the administration reached out to Fox about the network’s plan to censor the President.
Byers went on to recount how when “Navarro told me that when Bartiromo received Giordano’s guidance, she took a screenshot and forwarded it to him to tell him that management was not letting her cover the speech—or, in his words, “censoring” it. Navarro subsequently passed that information “up the chain,” he said, informing senior administration officials of the guidance. One high-ranking White House official, whom Navarro declined to identify, reached out to Fox News leadership to express their frustration with the decision.”
Fox News felt Bartiromo’s obligation should have been to the network as opposed to the truth and ended her on-air career at Fox,
