Fox News Parts Ways with Maria Bartiromo
Maria Bartiromo jumped from CNBC to Fox News after building a brand as the premier television financial reporter.
For the past 12-and-a-half years, Bartiromo hosted “Sunday Morning Futures” and “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business Channel.
Bartiromo also became one of President Trump’s biggest supporters at Fox.
Despite that success, Fox News yanked Bartiromo off the air in early August with no explanation.
Fox News eventually released a terse statement that announced Bartiromo would no longer appear on the air with no reason given for the end of her run.
“Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,’ the network’s statement read.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.,” the network added.
Bartiromo’s attorney Bryan Freedman released a statement clarifying that Fox News didn’t fire Bartiromo but took her off the air under the “pay or play” clause that is standard in TV contracts.
“For many years, Maria Bartiromo hosted three number one rated television shows on Fox channels. She has been, without question, one of the hardest-working journalists throughout her award-winning career. The irresponsible reports published claiming that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false. Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses, and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth,” Freedman’s statement read.
Why Fox News Sidelined Bartiromo
Puck News Dylan Byers reported that the tension between Fox News and Bartiromo began when the network spiked a story Bartiromo was working on about President Trump’s bombshell that China meddled in the 2020 election to help Democrats.
“NEW: The Maria Bartiromo backstory, per multiple sources familiar…. Maria Bartiromo wanted to pursue a story related to China and 2020 election voting conspiracies… a major sensitivity for the network given its Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits. A Fox Business executive sent a text to Fox Business producers informing them that that story could not go to air,” Byers wrote on X.
Byers went on to explain that Fox News took action against Bartiromo after finding out that she went to the White House with concerns about Fox News censoring a story about China helping Democrats rig the election.
“Bartiromo took a screenshot of the guidance and sent it to senior White House officials. Fox News leadership learned about that after receiving a call from the White House, which they viewed as a fireable offense. Fox pulled Bartiromo from air after Aug. 9. She was fired today. I have also learned that her executive producer, Patrick Ignozzi, was also fired after the announcement. Maria had resigned her contract with Fox last February,” Byers added.
The liberal media smears Fox News as “state TV” for Trump.
But the truth is Fox is hostile to large parts of Trump’s agenda, especially matters of election integrity.
The proof is in the pudding as Fox refused to air a story that Bartiromo believed bolstered Trump’s claims of a stolen 2020 election and then took her off the air as punishment.
