Both parties are drawing the battle lines over the 2026 midterm elections.
Republicans seized one major advantage.
And one ally warned Trump is about to steamroll Chuck Schumer over one bad mistake.
Joe Scarborough Calls Out Democrat Socialist of America’s Extremism
Zohran Mamdani and the Democrat Socialist of America candidates he’s endorsed in primaries are seizing power inside the Democrat Party.
Mamdani-backed candidates are running roughshod in primaries from New York to Colorado.
MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough delivered a scathing monologue to Chuck Schumer and other Democrat Party leaders about how dangerous the socialist movement was to their political prospects.
“Democrats, Democrats, Democrats. Let those with ears hear. Maya Angelou said when somebody shows you who they are, believe them. The first time people know themselves much better than you do, and well, what’s true of people is also true of political parties, and as you just saw, the national co-chair of the DSA went on television and showed us exactly who she is and what her party believes,” Scarborough began.
Scarborough then ticked off the extremist positions held by Democrat Socialist of America candidates like abolishing the Senate, the Presidency, the Supreme Court, ICE and the police.
“Abolish the U.S. Senate, the presidency as we know it, the Supreme Court as we know it. True. Abolish ICE,” Scarborough added.
“Absolutely. Open the borders, defund the Pentagon, empty the prisons, have the government seize private companies. Absolutely,” Scarborough continued.
Scarbough Warns Chuck Schumer
Democrats need to win four GOP-held seats to win the majority in the United States Senate.
Scarbough put Schumer on notice that Mamdani-style candidates like Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, who supports defunding the police, would disqualify the Democrats from being an acceptable alternative in the minds of swing voters.
“Absolutely. Yeah absolutely. All questions answered with complete conviction and all those responses completely disqualifying for a party that likes to tell people they’re really just about health care and tax reform,” Scarborough continued.
President Trump is already framing the election as Republicans standing as a bulwark against a communist takeover of America by Mamdani’s socialists.
Opposition parties historically gain seats in midterm elections.
That means 2026 should be a Democrat year by normal standards.
But Scarborough told Democrats that Trump’s message would succeed if the socialists kept winning primaries.
“Because Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, every other Democrat in Washington, D.C., make no mistake of it, if you don’t define your party today, Donald Trump will be sure to define it in November. And Jim Bandai, you’ve written about this. You talked about how Donald Trump took over the Republican Party in six steps,” Scarbough concluded,.
